EPAPR is the main operating arm of Eric Pringle Associates Sdn Bhd, a holding company established in 1984. The company was founded by the late Eric Pringle and its first chairman was Tunku Shahabuddin bin Tunku Besar Burhanuddin, AO, who is now an advisor to the EPA Group. Eric Pringle was the EPA Group's executive chairman until his passing on September 2, 2007 and had carried out consulting assignments throughout the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and North America. Before establishing the EPA Group, he headed the Eric White Associates/Hill & Knowlton Group, then Malaysia's largest firm of public relations consultants with offices in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
